Steve & Jeannine Marks’ vision of a marathon in Akron, Ohio, has continued its legacy of hosting world-class events. As our events have grown, so has our community support, with nearly 2,000 volunteers and 120,000 spectators. Likewise, we have created significant economic and social contributions in our community.
The mission of the Akron Marathon Charitable Corporation is to provide a world-class marathon and other events that promote health and fitness, stimulate the local economy, galvanize the community and benefit charitable organizations.
To create and manage dynamic, customer centric events and programs that deliver opportunities to promote active lifestyles for all.
The Akron Marathon Ambassador Awards honor individuals whose leadership, passion, and commitment have helped shape the spirit of the Blue Line. As we celebrate 25 Years of moving Akron forward, these distinguished ambassadors represent the very best of our running community—people who inspire others, strengthen connections, champion health and wellness, and help create a lasting impact far beyond race day. Their dedication reflects the heart of Akron Moves and the enduring legacy of a community that keeps showing up, moving forward, and bringing others along the way.
